Description

Lot 5 is a 4.71-acre smallholding, formerly the Creetown water supply, with a potential house site and a possible heritage information point. The site features a ruinous cottage, known as Billy Diamond's Cottage, which was occupied by Billy Diamond and his family in the 1850s. The cottage has a water supply pipe, electricity, telecom, and fibre connections available along the public road, pending necessary consents. The site also includes a former Creetown water supply, which was taken over by Scottish Water in the 1950s and was said to be one of the top two drinking water supplies in Scotland. The area is mainly open, partially fenced land, with a hard track leading to the cistern and original pipework in place. Planning approval has been informally explored with the Council, suggesting economic justification for development, and consent would be the responsibility of the purchaser.
