Caluna Wood is a sheltered woodland in transition to a native species woodland, located near the village of Ffostrasol and the Cardigan Bay coast. The wood was felled and replanted about 20 years ago, and has since been restocked with a variety of native broadleaves, including oak and rowan, as well as conifers. The wood has good all-weather access and features a hard stone track and an unsurfaced ride. A management plan was commissioned in 2014 to identify options for restoring the woodland to its natural state, and the new owner has the opportunity to further develop the conservation value of the wood. The wood is already showing signs of restoration, with a return of birdlife and a lovely atmosphere. The vendor's forester suggests maintaining the grassy ride, restoring and extending the meandering path, and identifying promising broadleaves to release them from competing trees, ultimately steering the wood towards its natural state as "Atlantic Oakwood".
