Our Summary
- A derelict barn situated close to other dwellings in a small hamlet
- One of the last barns unconverted in the immediate vicinity and with potential for conversion (subject to consent)
- It is thought that the barn once had planning consent for conversion into a dwelling but this is historic and no evidence has been found, so it is likely a new planning consent would be required for its use as such
Description
This derelict barn, situated in a small hamlet, is one of the last remaining unconverted barns in the area. Once part of a working farm, it has remained untouched despite its neighbors being converted into residential dwellings. The barn, which is thought to be around 11.6m x 4.8m in size, is constructed of stone and sits on a 0.18-acre site that also includes a former pigsty. While it's assumed to be Grade II Listed, the listing has not been confirmed. The site is overgrown, limiting access to the buildings, and a new planning consent would likely be required to convert the barn into a dwelling.
