"Heathfield House was built in about 1827 and was owned in 1855 by Henry Corlett Gill who sold it in that year to William Llewellyn, High Bailiff of Peel for 2,000. It remained in his possession until 1913, when after Llewellyn's death, it was sold by his family to Mrs Louisa Campbell Bush for 900 together with 11 acres three roods and seven perches of land which formed the extensive grounds" Historic Homes on the Isle of Man, J Kitto 1990.
"It was purchased by Mr H. S Cowell who erected a number of garages on part of the land and ran a haulage business. Mr and Mrs Cowell lived in Heathfield House until 1966 when Mr Cowell retired and sold it. During the last war Heathfield House was Peel's main centre for charitable efforts of various kinds; garden parties and concerts both indoor and open air". Upon entering Peel from Douglas, turn left on Tynwald Road onto Queens Drive. Turn right at the roundabout and follow the road onto Heathfield Drive. Turn left at the halt sign, and Heathfield House can be found a short distance on the left hand side
The ground floor comprises a Kitchen Area, Dining Room, Living Room, Drawing Room and Office. There is a number of storage rooms and access to a bathroom, annex area and basement. The basement is deceptively large but would benefit from being completely cleared and having timbers replaced. The staircase on the ground floor to the landing and up to the first floor would need to be replaced and is currently unsafe.
