Description
Wrae Hill Wood is a private gated broadleaf woodland located on the east flank of Wrae Hill above the Tweed Valley in the Scottish Borders. The wood was felled about 18 years ago, restocked with various species, and has since undergone natural regeneration. A mix of mature and maturing trees, including willow, rowan, cherry, and sycamore, are found throughout the 10-acre woodland, with broader-leaved trees such as oak, ash, and birch prominent in the lower roadside fringe and coniferous trees scattered throughout.
The wood features an extensive internal network of tracks and rides, as well as a number of attractive features such as an old limekiln, slate beds, and several springs, one of which feeds a private water supply. The property benefits from several level hardstanding areas and offers diverse opportunities for walking, hunting, and wildlife observation, with sightings of roe deer, red squirrels, and a variety of birds reported.
