Description

Ayton Hill Forest is situated in Perthshire, Scotland, approximately 1 mile northeast of the village of Abernethy and 7 miles north of the city of Perth. The 88.55 hectare forest has a diverse age profile, with high yielding Sitka spruce and Douglas fir crops planted between 1992 and 1993, and younger crops planted in 2012 and 2024. The property benefits from free draining mineral soils and a favourable growing climate, supported by line and selective thinning.

The forest is expected to produce over 30,000 tonnes of timber through three harvesting phases within the next 15 years, with the younger crops anticipated to achieve yield class rates of more than 24 m³/ha/yr. The forest is served by approximately 3.6 km of high-quality internal forest roads and has a mix of broadleaves planted at various stages, contributing to the significant species diversity and amenity value within the forest. Stone is readily available for ongoing road maintenance.
